Cindy Sherman
In my time taking Digital Studio class, I've learned about artist Cindy Sherman. She was a photographer who would transform herself into characters for her photos. I believe her work is about self image and self expression although Sherman does not consider her photos to be self portraits. I think it would be a way people viewing her photos could feel safe and like they could express themselves like Sherman does if they wanted to.
Inspired Piece
For the piece I've made here, I used a Snapchat filter to distort my face like Sherman does in her newer Instagram photo's. I played around with the color because she has bright colors in a lot of her photos. In thinking back to talking about self image and expression, I think the filter I chose where my forehead has been enlarged could represent how I feel like sometimes I have a big ego or am overconfident in my abilities.
